Memorial Opera House is thrilled to open the 2017 season with a show filled with humor, ridiculous accents, and a winner of 12 Tony awards! The Producers is a fun and exciting musical adapted from the 1968 film by Mel Brooks. It takes the journey with two producers who set out a plan to get rich quick by producing a musical they describe as “a love letter to Hitler” that will FAIL just after opening. When their plan backfires and it’s a huge success, they have to figure out what they are going to do with all of the complications that have come about. Take the journey with them and enjoy the twists and turns as they arise!

Book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan Lyrics by Mel Brooks The Producers is presented through Special Arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI)

This suspense tale involves a successful mystery writer, Arthur Putnam, whose latest work has strangely turned into a vivid and adulterous romance. His son, his second wife and his editor marvel at the truthfulness of the work, remarkable since it is inconceivable that he could ever have had such an affair. Enter a woman, who is intent on blackmail and whose story is foolproof and airtight. It appears that Arthur has been trysting away from home. Death rears its head, and the other woman disappears. Evidence incriminates Arthur in her murder. There is a conspiracy to do Arthur in, a conspiracy that entails cunning, deceit and ingenious plotting.
