HAMMOND, IN
Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)
Monday, October 11 at 7:00 pm
Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 pm

Directed by Earle and Betty Howe

Auditions will be held at Beatniks On Conkey, 418 Conkey Street, Hammond, IN.

Production Dates: December 10, 11, 12, 17 & 18

SYNOPSIS: It's what you get when you take "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty the Snowman," and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," mix in "The Gift of the Magi," "A Charlie Brown Christmas," and "It's A Wonderful Life," then add a touch of "A Christmas Carol," "The Nutcracker" and a few other BHCs (Beloved Holiday Classics).

If you're a fan of "The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged" you're bound to love "Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)", a madcap comedy written by Michael Carleton, Jim Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez, with original music by Will Knapp.  ECSET(ATS) is a fast, fond, and furious look at the yuletide traditions we all remember, some we never knew, and a few we'd like to forget.  Chock full of outrageously fun holiday hilarity, nothing is spared in this rollicking tour de farce.  It's a non-stop holiday romp through everyone's favorite traditional Christmas memories, performed as three actors cram an entire season's worth of stories, carols and television specials into ninety minutes of non-stop laughs.

CASTING NEEDS: 3 actors, male or female

HAMMOND, IN
Somewhere In Between
Monday, TBD in February at 7:00 pm
Tuesday, TBD in February at 7:00 pm

Directed by Earle and Betty Howe

Auditions will be held at Beatniks On Conkey, 418 Conkey Street, Hammond, IN.

Production Dates: TBD in April

SYNOPSIS: In the tradition of Sleepless In Seattle, The Shop Around the Corner, While You Were Sleeping, and You’ve Got Mail, Somewhere In Between is a smart, funny, touching, urban romantic comedy.

CASTING NEEDS:There are twenty characters in the show – many of them cameo roles.  The show was written to be performed by as few as six actors (three men and three women).  We would like to have at least a dozen – six women and six men.

JASPER, our hero, works on the complaint desk of a major TV station.
“Oh, yes, sir, yes. I understand completely. (Slight pause) No, no, I do. But… just try to look at it from another angle. Now, it was a mini-series about two families during the Civil War, right? (Slight pause) And are you familiar with that period of American history? (Slight pause) No, I’m not saying anything of the kind. I’m just checking. Because I’m sure you’ll recall that the South lost the Civil War. Great. Then you can see how when we have the rebels lose the war in the mini-series, we’re not casting aspersions on the South… we’re just being historically accurate. (Slight pause) Well, good. What’s that? (Pause) All right. I’ll let them know. You’d like to see less historically accurate drama in the future. Thank you for calling, sir.”

HOLLY, our heroine, works at Barnes and Noble.
“Everybody thinks we get to sit around all day reading. Wrong. With all of the crazy customers we have no time for that. And, of course, we women are sitting ducks for the men who come in. We get hit on all the time. ‘Excuse me, I’ve never done this before, but you are so pretty.’ And they all think they’re so swift. A year ago there was this article in the Times about how bookstores were the new hot pick-up spots. And for six months it was non-stop. Men falling all over themselves to buy books! It would have been funny if it weren’t so pathetic.”

CHRIS, Jasper’s co-worker with dating advice.
“You see, it’s not what you say. Lines don’t work. Girls know all the lines. You’ve just got to get them into a quick conversation, smile, kid around. Like you would with a guy. Treat ‘em like a friend. Then they figure you’re not out to nail them. This works every time. Plus knowing where to go. Bookstores are the best. They’re not expecting it there. That’s part of the trick. You have to find places to catch them with their guard down. And it makes you look better. Like you read and stuff.”

MARY, another co-worker with her own perspective.
“I’ve always been really nice to you. Even when everybody else here thought you were kind of weird, I stuck up for you. For a very short while I was even kind of interested in you. Of course, let’s face it, you’re not the smoothest dresser around. Your tie is always crooked. Your hair’s going off in five different directions, but do I make remarks?”

The MAN IN THE ELEVATOR just as it gets stuck between floors.
“We’ll probably be moving in a second. These things happen, I guess. A perfect morning otherwise. The tiniest of blemishes when you think about it. Oh, yeah. Any second now. There was terrific sunrise this morning. Watching the sun’s rays gleaming off the top of the Chrysler Building. You could feel the energy as the city … When, when is this thing going to start moving? … I mean, shouldn’t it be moving by now? … I think it’s kind of warm. The, uh, the air’s getting … a little close, don’t you think? This is just perfect. I didn’t need this … I’m not gonna make it … I have to run into the bathroom, splash cold water on my face, try to collect myself … But the doors won’t open! I can’t go on this way!”

Plus the CONSTRUCTION WORKER, the LAWYER, the ACTRESS, the FOREIGN TOURIST, JASPER’S BOSS, and the PARTY PEOPLE.

SAMPLE OF THE SCRIPT:

DIRECTORS NOTES: Somewhere In Between is a great show, and we intend to make ours a great production. All actors welcome – a wide variety of types, sizes, and ages. Perusal scripts available. A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD

Directed by: Sheree Wheeler-Gudeman
Musical director: Trish Hales
Choreographer: TBD

AUDITIONS will be held at: Portage Yacht Club 1370 State Hwy 249, Portage, IN

SYNOPSIS: Arnold Lobel's well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale's new musical. A Year With Frog And Toad remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledgeing, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.

A score that bubbles with melody and wit, it's jazzy upbeat sound is a perfect match for the hopping, crawling and flying denizens that inhabit Frog and Toad's world. It’s clever book and lyrics and snazzy music can serve as a great introduction to theatre for youngsters, while keeping adults entertained as well!

The setting is the deck of a battleship where Ruby, the talented tap-dancer from the sticks climbs aboard a youngster and disembarks a star! The show is being floated because its songwriter, Dick happens to be a sailor and is able, therefore, to offer an alternative venue when under pressure from leading lady Mona.
