The tragic, true story of the trial and lynching of a man wrongly accused of murder is brought to theatrical life.

Amid religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension, the stirring Tony Award-winning Parade explores the endurance of love and hope against all the odds. With a book by acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy) and a rousing, colorful and haunting score by Jason Robert Brown (Songs For a New World, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County), Parade is a moving examination of the darkest corners of America’s history.

In 1913, Leo Frank, a Brooklyn-raised Jew living in Georgia, is put on trial for the murder of thirteen-year-old Mary Phagan, a factory worker under his employ. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him, a sensationalist publisher and a janitor’s false testimony seal Leo’s fate. His only defenders are a governor with a conscience and, eventually, his assimilated Southern wife who finds the strength and love to become his greatest champion.

Daring, innovative and bold, Parade is filled with soaring music and a heart-wrenching story, offering a moral lesson about the dangers of prejudice and ignorance that should not be forgotten. Groups looking for powerful, moving theatrical experiences will need to look no further than this unforgettable show.

GRITTY COMEDY/DRAMA: Sam Shepard has always been a CST favorite and Fool for Love gives audiences a look at an earlier work that led to him becoming one of America’s greatest living playwrights. In a seedy motel room on the edge of the Mojave Desert, the story is set for May and Eddie, two lovers who can’t live with or without each other. Surrounded by ghosts of their pasts and a mysterious old man who sits in a corner of the stage, they must survive the passions and volatility that keep drawing them together.

    NOISES OFF

A Farcical Comedy by Michael Frayn

    Directed by Jeffrey Baumgartner

    June 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and July 1, 6, 7, 8
Performances on Friday/Saturdays at 7PM & Sundays 2 PM CST

Noises Off provides a glimpse into the world of theatre. The audience will witness both the rehearsal process and what goes on behind the scenes once the curtain is raised. The play opens the night before the first performance and the cast are hopelessly unready. Baffled by entrances and exits, missed cues, missed lines, and bothersome props, including several plates of sardines, Lloyd, the director, is beyond frustrated. Seen from backstage, Act 2 provides a view of the dysfunctional relationships between the cast. Romantic rivalries, lovers’ tiffs and personal quarrels lead to offstage shenanigans, onstage bedlam and the occasional attack with a fire axe. Act 3 occurs during the play’s last run where relationships between the cast have frayed considerably, the set is breaking down and props are winding up in the wrong hands, on the floor, and in the way. While the actors remain determined to cover up the mounting chaos, it’s not long before the plot and script are seemingly abandoned entirely in this hilarious comedy.
