Join us for A SPLASH OF RED, a special event celebrating our 2017 Summer Season, and enjoy the summer’s first production: RED, a play by John Logan. Enjoy live music, great food, adult beverages, and an auction of wonderful items, including artworks from local artists, executed in the fashion of master abstract expressionist painter, Mark Rothko, upon whom the play RED is based. Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer serves as The Dunes Steering Committee Honorary Chairman for A SPLASH OF RED event. This event is co-sponsored by one of our proud community supporters, the Southern Shores Arts Association. Plein air artist Jeffrey Baumgartner stars as Rothko.

    A Play by Jason Miller

    Directed by Jeffrey Baumgartner

    August 24 and September 2

Staged Readings on Thursday and Saturday  7PM

Considered by far the best stage and screen actor of all time, John Barrymore returns to the theatre as a ghost. The gods have sentenced Barrymore to this penance for abandoning theater and squandering his talents in the pursuit of fame and greed.  Barrymore painfully and humorously disputes these assertions as he examines his life. He chronicles his climb as the finest classical actor of his generation; his rise to movie stardom; his compassionate relationships to his sister Ethel and his brother Lionel; and the explosive debacles of his four marriages. Barrymore's Ghost serves up great wit, terror, agony and hope, as a truly legendary character explores the truths and deceptions of an extraordinary life.
