The Actor's Nightmare is a hilarious spoof that details the plight of a stranger who is suddenly pushed on stage to replace an ailing actor. Inspired by the well known dream experienced by many in the theatre where they are in a play but have no recollection of having been to rehearsal and they know neither the lines nor the plot. Sister Mary... is a biting irreverent and uproariously funny satire that aims it barbs at organized religion, striking home with hilarious results.

        Rocken Horse With Chick Norris

Concert At 7:00 PM On Saturday, September 15, 2018

A portion of this show's net proceeds will be donated to help regional animal shelters and rescues!

Chicago-rooted quartet ROCKEN HORSE formed in 1975 when the Windy City music scene was exploding with groups like REO Speedwagon, Styx and others. Rocken Horse lit up stages throughout the Midwest, signing their first record deal in 1980. Tight vocal harmonies gave Rocken Horse their own unique sound, anchored by a tight rhythm section and powered bytwin guitars.

Their debut LP -- "Rocken Roll" -- generated a handful regional radio singles quickly buildingthem a large Midwestern following. Their 1981 album release show at Northwest Indiana's legendary Sherwood Club sold out in a matter of hours, as over 900 people came out to rock with "The Horse," as fans have come to call them.

After a few years on the road doing headline shows and opening for top rock acts of the day,the members decided to follow their individual paths in life while always remaining the closest of friends.

In 2016, three of the original Horses -- Jim Koranda, Glenn Reyna, and Ken Silvestri -- reunited with new drummer Rick Stanislavski to kick-start the second chapter of Rocken Horse. In 2017, they recorded and released an original EP, "Three By Four," to the delight of regional fans long-hoping for such a reunion. Today's Rocken Horse concerts feature those wonderful vocal harmonies delivering a nice blend of favorites from their debut album, new originals, and assorted covers by the classic bands who inspired them. Rocken Horse have recently shared stages with Chicago's legendary Ides of March and other top talents.

Their Memorial Opera House debut will be even more special with the addition of CHICK NORRIS, the newest musical project by renown Chicago guitarist/vocalist Lorrie Kountz, famous for fronting the Chicago bands Bitch and Tough Love in the 1980s. Chick Norris is rounded out by guitarist Laura Jansons, bassist Pete Jansons, and drummer/percussionist Jeff Fite, who play 80’s and 90’s alternative and today’s current rock, retooling songs with their own artistic signature. Chick Norris has proved to be a crowd pleaser!

Brightside Music Presents Shemekia Copeland With The Cash Box Kings

Concert At 7:30 PM On Saturday, October 20, 2018

Brightside Music is happy to welcome Shemekia Copeland to Valparaiso to headline our Blues Fest. Experience one of the greatest voices in blues at a venue that was practically made for it. You won't want to miss her.
Whether she's belting out a raucous blues-rocker, firing up a blistering soulshouter, bringing the spirit to a gospel-fueled R&B rave-up or digging deep down to a subtle, country-tinged ballad, Shemekia Copeland sounds like no one else. With a voice that is alternately sultry, assertive and roaring, Shemekia's wide open vision of contemporary blues, roots and soul music showcases the evolution of a passionate artist with a modern musical and lyrical approach.
Copeland has performed thousands of gigs at clubs, festivals and concert halls all over the world during her decades long career. She's sung with Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Carlos Santana, James Cotton and many others. She opened for The Rolling Stones and entertained U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait.
With her latest album Outskirts of Love and a packed tour schedule, Copeland has her eyes fixed firmly on the future as she continues to break new musical ground. "I want to be growing, to be innovative," she says. "I'm a lifert, singing about things that bother me, using my music to help people. My dad always said that 'we're all connected.' I'm an old soul marching to the beat of my own drum," she continues, "And right now I'm making the most exciting music of my career.

Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels, the play was conceived for the stage by directors, Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, and written by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates – led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own – the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.

"Keely and Du" is a mind-probing issue play with a gripping human face. Who is accountable? What is the extent of individual freedom? What are the rape victim's rights? What are a Christian's realities of procreation? Their passionate stories exist on the extreme edge of everyday reality.
