Address: 4th St Theatre, Chesterton, IN 46304, USA

Based on the best-selling novel, and developed by the Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning creative team of Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five YearsParadeSongs for a New World) and Marsha Norman, The Bridges of Madison County captures the lyrical expanse of America’s heartland along with the yearning entangled in the eternal question” “What if…?” Winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Score and Orchestrations, this sweeping romance about the roads we travel, the doors we open and the bridges we dare to cross will leave audiences breathless.

Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into her driveway seeking directions, though, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca’s life.

Music and Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM

    Book by JAMES LAPINE

    Orchestrations by JONATHAN TUNICK

    DIRECTED BY ANDY LEAHY

    MUSICAL DIRECTION BY LAURA CARNS

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, work... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later...with disastrous results.

One of Sondheim's most popular works, "Into the Woods" is a musically sophisticated show with both lighthearted moments hearkening childhood innocence and a myriad of nods to dark comedy.

    "Into the Woods"

Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
