The Pitch

A young, hungry writer in Hollywood finally has his chance to pitch his original ideas for movies, television shows, and commercials to a major producer. The writer’s ideas come to life on stage as he tries to sell one — just one — of his many wacky ideas. Consider (and laugh) as the writer presents previews of a big-budget movie entitled “Thumb Wars”; a reality show about mailmen called “Going Postal”; a game show with the revolting title “Guess What I Just Ate for Dinner”; and even a commercial for a new sports drink called “H2MayO: The First Drinkable Mayonnaise.” This fast-paced comedic one act will put you in the producer’s shoes as they watch pitch after hilarious pitch go down in flames.

TICKETING FOR “THE PITCH”


Our performances will be February 26th, 27th, 28th. We will be announcing on February 22nd what type of production we will be having. We are hoping to have an in-person production; but we may also be forced into a virtual production. Either way, we will be streaming our production the same weekend.

​FOR IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES:
The 26th and 27th will be at 7PM, and the 28th will be at 2PM. You will be able to purchase tickets at the door. No advance sales will be made for the in-person performances. Tickets will be $7.00 and is general seating. We will also be streaming the production for the weekend. If you are looking to watch the stream; be see the information below.

FOR STREAMING PERFORMANCES:
If you are choosing to stream the production instead of coming in person; you can purchase your streaming pass right now! The link below will take you to our ticket purchasing site. When you buy your stream; you will be able to watch the show anytime you wish from 1 AM Friday the 26th until 11 PM Sunday the 28th. There is no specific time; it is whenever you want to tune in. Your $10 streaming charge covers your whole house, and you SHOULD NOT purchase multiple streams for multiple members of family in your household that will watch the show with you. There is also a processing fee that will be added to your ticket; this is a cost from the ticketing agency for Credit Card Fees. If you don’t want to purchase your streaming ticket now; you will be able to purchase it until 10PM on Sunday the 28th of February; so you don’t have to stress about what happens if we go full virtual.

    How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art? One of Marc's best friends, Serge, has just bought a very expensive painting. It's about five feet by four, all white with white diagonal lines. To Marc, the painting is a joke, but Serge insists Marc doesn't have the proper standard to judge the work. Another friend, Ivan, though burdened by his own problems, allows himself to be pulled into this disagreement. Eager to please, Ivan tells Serge he likes the painting. Lines are drawn and these old friends square off over the canvas, using it as an excuse to relentlessly batter one another over various failures. As their arguments become less theoretical and more personal, they border on destroying their friendships. At the breaking point, Serge hands Marc a felt tip pen and dares him: "Go on." This is where the friendship is finally tested, and the aftermath of action, and its reaction, affirms the power of those bonds.

    How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art? One of Marc's best friends, Serge, has just bought a very expensive painting. It's about five feet by four, all white with white diagonal lines. To Marc, the painting is a joke, but Serge insists Marc doesn't have the proper standard to judge the work. Another friend, Ivan, though burdened by his own problems, allows himself to be pulled into this disagreement. Eager to please, Ivan tells Serge he likes the painting. Lines are drawn and these old friends square off over the canvas, using it as an excuse to relentlessly batter one another over various failures. As their arguments become less theoretical and more personal, they border on destroying their friendships. At the breaking point, Serge hands Marc a felt tip pen and dares him: "Go on." This is where the friendship is finally tested, and the aftermath of action, and its reaction, affirms the power of those bonds.

    The scene is the set where Anthony J. Lefcourt, writer and director, is rehearsing his new play, a “classic whodunit” (in which all the characters are named Butler) with which he hopes to regain the success that has eluded him in recent seasons. Desperately eager to stimulate his cast to their best efforts, he has deliberately withheld the final scene of the play from them, but his patience is worn thin by the petty jealousies and romantic rivalries that detract from their concentration. In an effort to spur them on he “stages” the murder of one of the actresses, after which the plot begins to twist and turn with such dazzling ingenuity—and hilarity—that soon actors and audience alike have lost track of what is real and what is make-believe—until a surprise ending sets matters straight in a most bizarre and ironic way.

    Show dates are Oct 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17, Fri & Sat shows at 7:30pm, Sun's at 2:00pm. The cost of the show is $18.00 and refreshments will be available.
