A unique theatrical experience, this play attempts to convince the audience that they are watching the performance breakdown before their very eyes.  The “playwright” Lisa explains that she has written a “multi-character exploration of issues of health and illness both in the individual and in a community.”  She has hired actors to play the other characters and has even brought her mother, Ann, to observe and participate.  But from the very beginning, Ann second guesses Lisa’s telling of the story, and as the evening progresses, the other actors join in the criticism.  Ultimately Lisa is forced to confront her own biases and acknowledge the heartbreaking challenge of true empathy, even toward those we love the most.

Making GOD Laugh by Sean Grennan

Synopsis: Making God Laugh follows one typical American family over the course of thirty years' worth of holidays. Starting in 1980, Ruthie and Bill's grown children -- a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former football star -- all return home, where we learn of their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives. The empty-nester parents contend with their own changes, too, as old family rituals are trotted out and ancient tensions flare up. As time passes, the family discovers that, despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations. This play is funny and heart warming both comedy and tragedy of real life.
