SYNOPSIS: Othello, the esteemed Moorish general of the Venetian Armies, is sent to Cyprus to defend against the advancements of the Ottoman Empire . However, prior to his orders to leave Venice , he scandalously elopes with Desdemona, the only daughter to a disapproving Brabantio, a powerful and influential Senator. Iago, Othello’s ensign, jealously plots against his master and his new mistress using Roderigo (a suitor to Desdemona) and Cassio (a Florentine who is promoted ahead of Iago). With the additional unwitting aid of his wife, Emilia, Iago preys upon Othello’s insecurities and convinces him to murder Desdemona.
