The Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation is proud to host the 2017 This is My Brave Chicagoland live event. This is My Brave is a live storytelling event where real people tell real stories about living with or loving someone with mental illness. Billed as #StorytellingSavesLives, This is My Brave seeks to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness, open a dialog, and create opportunities for people to #LiveBrave and thoughtfully engage around the topic of mental health.
The event will be held May 21, 2017 at 3 pm. Tickets are available at https://squareup.com/store/nietf for $20 in advance, $25 at-the-door (if available), or $50 VIP including pre-show reception. Mental health knows no bounds of age and neither does this event, however due to the nature of some of the stories, we are giving the show a PG rating.
“May is Mental Health Awareness month and we hope this event will be a signature event for our community bringing together members of the public, healthcare, support agencies, community leaders, and those that engage regularly with these issues: psychologists, psychiatrists, law enforcement, school counselors, therapists, special education professionals, pastors, chaplains, and emergency medical providers. We want to spark a conversation that needs a spotlight,” said Becky Jascoviak, NIETF President.
The show is made possible through the financial support of Porter County Community Foundation, Indiana Dunes Tourism, and others. Additional sponsorships of this important community event are available. For more information contact Becky Jascoviak at president@nietf.org.

At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. Tony, attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by the Kirbys, who are invited to eat cheap food, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question. Meantime, Tony, who knows the Sycamores are right and his own people wrong, will not give her up. No mention has as yet been made of the strange activities of certain members of the household engaged in the manufacture of fireworks; nor of the printing press set up in the parlor; nor of Grandpa's interview with the tax collector when he tells him he doesn't believe in the income tax.
